I do find Updike’s portrayal of David’s angst, and his feeling that that no one around him can help him with it, utterly convincing.

I was new to the US at that time, upduke Updike opened up a totally unfamiliar world – rural Pennsylvania.

Pigeon Feathers

I’ve started a number of his books over the years and I don’t think I finished any of them. Somebody I Used to Know. Pigeon Feathers is a worthy adversary. She had imagined that he had already entered, in the secrecy of silence, the conspiracy that he now knew to be all around him. The pigeonn story, Pigeon Feathers, geathers especially moving in its portrayal of a young boy’s crisis of faith. I don’t like featbers stories.
